Jind, 29 November 2024 – A man was shot dead near the Butana Canal bend on Panipat Road in Jind on Friday morning, marking another violent incident in Haryana. The victim, identified as Sanjay (40), a resident of Achra Kalan village, was fatally attacked around 8 a.m.
The Safidon police were alerted immediately, prompting City Police Station in-charge Ishwar Singh, Sadar Police Station in-charge Varinder Kumar, and CIA staff in-charge Kamal Singh to reach the scene with their teams. The police have taken custody of the body, which has been sent to Safidon Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
Eyewitness accounts suggest Sanjay was traveling on a bus from Gohana and had alighted near the canal bend when unidentified assailants opened fire. He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on the spot, and the attackers fled before bystanders could intervene.
“A bullet injury caused the death. The case appears to be linked to an old grudge. Investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects,” said Ishwar Singh, City Police Station in-charge.
The incident caused panic in the area as a large crowd gathered at the scene. Police are reviewing eyewitness statements and working to trace the attackers.
