Mumbai, 12 November 2024: A man identified as Faizan Khan has been apprehended in Chhattisgarh for issuing a death threat to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and demanding a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.

The Bandra police registered an extortion case following the threat, which emerged amidst ongoing threats against fellow actor Salman Khan, tied to a long-standing feud involving gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The investigation revealed that the call to Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat, originated from Chhattisgarh.

Authorities launched a manhunt in the state after tracing the phone number to Faizan Khan, who is an advocate by profession.

During questioning, Faizan claimed innocence, alleging that his phone had been lost on November 2, for which he had filed a police complaint.

He argued that the threat call was part of a conspiracy against him, asserting he had previously lodged a complaint against Shah Rukh Khan for allegedly inciting enmity between religious groups.

According to police sources, the caller had reportedly said, “I am calling Shah Rukh Khan from Mannat Bandstand. If he doesn’t give me Rs 50 lakh, I will kill him.” When asked about his identity, the caller responded, “It doesn’t matter, if you want to mention, you can write my name as Hindustani.”

The arrest comes after a series of threats targeting high-profile Bollywood celebrities, escalating tensions in the industry and prompting heightened security measures. The police are continuing their investigation to verify Faizan Khan’s claims and ascertain the motive behind the call.
