Tarn Taran, November 3 — With political activity heating up ahead of the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday led a roadshow in support of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Harmeet Singh Sidhu.
Mann, accompanied by party workers and local leaders, appealed to residents to vote for the broom symbol on November 11, saying that AAP’s victory would “secure the future of their children” and take Tarn Taran “to new heights of development.”
During the event, the Chief Minister announced that the government would soon launch a ₹1,000 monthly assistance scheme for women, to be included in the next state budget. He said all poll guarantees would be fulfilled in a phased manner within the next five years.
Listing his government’s achievements, Mann said the AAP administration had waived electricity bills, provided jobs to youth, and strengthened Punjab’s schools. “If a child in a household gets a job, the atmosphere of the entire family changes,” he said.
The Tarn Taran bypoll, scheduled for November 11, is being seen as a key test for AAP’s rural support in border districts.
