Chandigarh, Dec 4: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday projected the state as a top investment destination during meetings with major Japanese companies on the first day of his Japan tour.
Mann met representatives of J.B.I.C., Aisin Industry, Yamaha, Honda Motor, J.I.C.A.’s South Asia Department, Toray Industries, Fujitsu Limited and officials from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. He urged them to consider Punjab for expansion in advanced manufacturing, mobility, electronics, food processing, renewable energy and global services.
“The future of Punjab is being reshaped to meet the needs of these sectors, and we welcome Japanese companies to explore the opportunities opening up in our state,” he directly said.
Mann invited the companies to attend the 6th Progressive Punjab Investor Summit at ISB Mohali from March 13–15, 2026. He said the summit will showcase Punjab’s growth story and offer a platform for global industries to build long-term partnerships. “Punjab and Japan can build strong ties rooted in trust, quality and commitment,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that Punjab’s identity—marked by courage, resilience, enterprise and creativity—continues to drive India’s development. “Punjab is moving forward with a new vision to become a hub for modern industries and global cooperation,” he noted.
Mann said several Japanese firms already operating in Punjab are performing strongly, and more companies are showing confidence in the state. He added that Japanese investors expressed interest during the talks. “These investments will create jobs for our youth and speed up economic progress,” he said, assuring full government support.
