Mumbai, April 5: Veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar was cremated with full state honours at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu, Mumbai, on Saturday. Draped in the national flag, his body was carried in a vehicle adorned with a large photograph of the late actor, allowing fans to pay their final tributes.
His son, Kunal Goswami, lit the pyre in the presence of family, friends, and several prominent members of the film industry.
Actors and filmmakers, including Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Saira Banu, Prem Chopra, Raj Babbar, Subhash Ghai, Rajpal Yadav, Ashok Pandit, and Raza Murad, gathered to bid farewell to the man who left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
Manoj Kumar, fondly known as ‘Bharat Kumar’ for his iconic patriotic films, had been battling health issues for an extended period. His condition worsened in February, and he was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on February 21. He passed away on Friday at the age of 87.
