SAS NAGAR, Jan 30 – Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday distributed appointment letters to 916 young recruits across various departments, asserting that the state has successfully dismantled the old culture of bribery and political recommendations in public hiring.

Speaking at Vikas Bhawan, the Chief Minister noted that his administration has now provided government jobs to 63,943 youths purely on the basis of merit within a four-year span. He described the ongoing recruitment under ‘Mission Rozgar’ as a continuous process aimed at restoring the dignity of Punjab’s youth.

“Earlier, the rights of Punjab’s youth were grabbed by the near and dear ones of those in power,” the Chief Minister said. He added that the neglect of merit in previous decades would have deeply pained national heroes like Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, whose dreams of a fair and prosperous India remained unfulfilled for seventy years.

The Chief Minister mentioned that the transparency of the current system is evidenced by the fact that not a single appointment among the nearly 64,000 jobs has been challenged in court. He noted that all vacant posts are being filled through a foolproof mechanism designed to eradicate unemployment, which he identified as the root cause of many social ills.

“Not even a single appointment out of these nearly 64,000 jobs has been challenged in any court. It is a proud moment for the Punjab government that all these jobs have been given purely on the basis of merit,” Mann said.

Beneficiaries at the event shared personal accounts of the transparent process. Dr. Mukesh, who secured his third government job through the merit-based system, dedicated his success to his late mother. Similarly, Cooperative Inspector Jaspreet Kaur mentioned that she secured her position without any external recommendation, promising to serve the public with dedication.

The event was attended by Cabinet Ministers Dr. Balbir Singh and Gurmeet Singh Khudian, alongside other senior officials.
