BHIWANI, July 10 — A school bus carrying around 50 students skidded off a narrow village road near Baliyali and slipped nearly six feet into an adjacent field on Thursday morning, leaving several students with minor injuries.
The incident occurred as the bus was en route from Baliyali village to Bawani Khera town and tried to give way to an oncoming vehicle. While the bus tilted and got stuck in the soft roadside soil, it narrowly avoided overturning.
Eyewitnesses and locals rushed to the spot to help pull the students out of the bus. Most of the children sustained only minor scrapes, while several others were unharmed and continued on to school after the ordeal.
Sachin Sardana, the Sarpanch of Baliyali village, blamed the accident on “careless driving” and a sharp curve that the driver failed to navigate properly. He also pointed to the deteriorated condition of the road. “There’s erosion on both sides of this stretch. We’ve raised the issue with the PWD department several times, but no action has been taken,” he said.
Confirming the details, Bawani Khera police station SHO Om Prakash said, “About 50 children were on board. Fortunately, none of the injuries are serious. Some students went back home, while others proceeded to school.”
Local authorities have assured a closer review of road conditions in the area, as parents and residents demanded immediate repairs and improved road safety measures.
