New Delhi, 11 February 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for collective global efforts to establish governance and standards for artificial intelligence (AI) to uphold shared values and manage risks. Speaking at the AI Action Summit alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi underscored AI’s growing influence on politics, the economy, security, and society.
“AI is writing the code for humanity in this century,” Modi said, stressing the transformative impact of the technology. Addressing concerns over potential job losses, he noted that history has shown technology does not eliminate work but reshapes it, creating new employment opportunities.
To prepare for an AI-driven future, Modi urged investment in workforce training. “We need to invest in skilling and re-skilling our people,” he said, advocating for a proactive approach to adapting to technological advancements.
