HISAR, April 14:— Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a blistering attack on the Congress, accusing it of betraying the vision of BR Ambedkar by marginalising Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs during its rule.
Speaking on Ambedkar Jayanti after flagging off the first commercial flight from Hisar’s Maharaja Agrasen Airport to Ayodhya and laying the foundation stone for a new terminal building, Modi said, “Congress spread the virus of vote bank politics. Babasaheb wanted equality, but they turned SCs, STs and OBCs into second-class citizens.”
He accused the Congress of trying to “destroy the Constitution” and claimed that his government was fulfilling Ambedkar’s dream by combining social justice with infrastructural growth.
The new terminal at Maharaja Agrasen Airport is set to be built at a cost of ₹410 crore and is expected to be completed within two years. Modi said the airport would soon offer regular connectivity to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh, besides Ayodhya.
“While expanding air connectivity, the Centre is also empowering the poor and ensuring dignity for every citizen. This is the true spirit of Ambedkar’s Constitution,” he added.
The newly launched flight to Ayodhya will operate twice a week, while other destinations will see three flights weekly.
