CHANDIGARH, Aug. 16 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate infrastructure projects worth ₹11,000 crore to Haryana on August 17, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced Saturday.

Addressing a press conference, Saini said the projects include six new roads connecting Delhi’s Rohini to the National Capital Region (NCR). Among them are two four-lane link roads for Sonipat and Bahadurgarh, built under the Urban Extension Road-2 project at an estimated cost of ₹2,000 crore.

“These projects reflect our double-engine government’s commitment to developing world-class infrastructure and addressing connectivity and traffic congestion issues in the NCR,” the Chief Minister said, adding that commuters in the region will benefit from reduced travel time and smoother transit.

Saini opened the briefing by paying tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary. “Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji changed the dimension of Indian politics. Today’s opposition should read his biography and learn how he spoke for the common people,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister also reviewed progress under the Deendayal Upadhyay Antyodaya Parivar Suraksha Yojana, launched on April 1, 2023. He said financial aid worth ₹1,380 crore has been provided to 36,651 families affected by natural disasters or illness. “Under this scheme, families with an annual income of up to ₹1.8 lakh are eligible for assistance of up to ₹5 lakh in cases of death or disability of a family member,” Saini explained.

Turning to law and order, the Chief Minister stressed that security remains a top priority for his government. “No matter how influential a person is, if they act outside the law, they will not be spared. In the coming times, stringent measures will be taken. Anyone who commits a crime will be crushed,” he said.

Saini also issued a warning against narcotics trafficking, saying, “The government is working to break the back of drug smugglers.”

The projects are expected to bolster Haryana’s infrastructure network while reinforcing the state’s focus on governance, welfare, and security.
