Moga, July 17: A shocking family violence over agricultural land has come forward, an advocate allegedly tried to mow down his elder brother’s family with a car in Gatti Jattan village of Punjab’s Moga district. The incident occurred on July 14 in the Dharamkot sub-division and was caught on CCTV.

Police said a case of attempt to murder has been registered against the accused advocate, Dilbag Singh, and his wife, Ramandeep Kaur, both of whom are currently absconding.

Dilbag’s niece, Muskanjit Kaur, sustained multiple injuries and is currently hospitalised in Moga. Two other family members also suffered injuries in the incident.

Dharamkot Station House Officer (SHO) Balwinder Singh said that Dilbag Singh had a long-standing property dispute with his brother, Balwinder Singh. Tensions escalated when their father, Surjit Singh, chose to live with Balwinder, which reportedly enraged Dilbag.

“CCTV footage shows Dilbag driving the car into his brother’s family. Muskanjit Kaur can be seen trapped beneath the vehicle,” said SHO Balwinder Singh. “She is under medical observation and we are yet to record her statement, but her condition is stable.”

The police have launched raids to apprehend the couple and are continuing their investigation.
