MOHALI, Dec 30: A 22-year-old man was killed and three others were seriously injured after two SUVs collided head-on near Phase 8 early Monday, police said.
The accident occurred around 2 a.m. when the vehicles crashed under circumstances that are still being investigated. The deceased was identified as Sahib Deep Singh, a resident of Rauni village in Khanna.
“He sustained critical injuries and was declared dead during treatment,” a police official at the Phase 8-B police station said.
The three injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they remain under treatment. Doctors described their condition as serious but stable.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged in the collision, indicating high impact, police said. A case of negligent driving has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine responsibility.
Family members said Sahib Deep Singh was the only son of his parents. “Our entire world has collapsed,” a relative said. He is survived by his parents and a sister who is pursuing studies abroad.
