CHANDIGARH/MOHALI, APRIL 8 — Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora announced on Wednesday that a state-of-the-art Multipurpose Exhibition & Convention Centre will be developed in Mohali. The project, situated in Sector 83 near the Infosys campus, is designed to transform the region into a primary hub for global business and investment.

The Minister stated that the facility will be built on 14 acres within Mohali IT City through a Public-Private Partnership. With an estimated cost of ₹250 crore, the development is being led by Exhicon Events Media Solutions Ltd.

“This landmark initiative reflects the government’s commitment to positioning Punjab as a preferred destination for international events,” Arora affirmed.

Plans for the center include column-free exhibition halls, conference rooms, and a retail zone. The Minister noted that the first phase is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, while the second phase will follow in late 2027. Once fully operational, the venue will accommodate summits for up to 10,000 delegates and social gatherings for 15,000 people.

Arora maintained that the economic benefits would be substantial, with the project projected to generate between 15,000 and 25,000 jobs within five years. He asserted that the infrastructure will adhere to GRIHA 5-Star sustainable design principles and modern fire safety standards.
