Mohali Traffic Police Issue 500 Challans

Chandigarh, 14 December, 2024: Mohali traffic police conducted an extensive enforcement drive on Friday night, setting up checkpoints at five strategic locations across the city to curb traffic violations.

The operation resulted in over 500 challans being issued, with 31 specifically targeting cases of drunk driving. Two vehicles were also impounded during the campaign.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Karnail Singh said, “A special drive was carried out under the directions of SSP Mohali Deepak Pareek to address traffic violations. We issued 31 challans for drunk driving during the operation.”

Checkpoints were established at key locations, including T-point Siswan, Toll Tax Bhago Majra, Chhatt Lights, Kanor village, Jagatpura village, and Verka Chowk.

The initiative saw active involvement from senior officers, including the Superintendent of Police, three DSPs, five SHOs, and additional personnel stationed at each checkpoint to ensure strict enforcement.

Singh added that a focused effort is being made to monitor and penalize offenders driving under the influence of alcohol.

“A strict vigil is being maintained to deter such behavior,” he said, underscoring the department’s commitment to road safety.

The drive highlights an intensified effort by the Mohali traffic police to address reckless behavior and promote safer roads, signaling a zero-tolerance approach to violations.
