Mohali, December 3, 2025 – Mohali’s streets are witnessing a technological transformation with the AI-powered City Surveillance and Traffic Management System, operational since March 2025 under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
“The system is helping us reduce accidents and respond faster to emergencies,” Mann said, noting that real-time monitoring through over 400 CCTV cameras with ANPR and e-challan facilities is strengthening law and order.
In its first week, fines worth Rs 1.40 crore were issued, and currently, 5,000 to 6,000 challans are generated daily, officials said. “Strict enforcement is instilling compliance among citizens,” a senior police officer noted.
The AI system also improves coordination between police and emergency services, safeguarding lives and property. By integrating data from transport, health, and security sectors, the government aims to make Mohali a model Smart City.
Citizen feedback indicates smoother traffic flow and safer travel. Mann added, “Our vision is to make Punjab part of the mainstream of Digital India, while promoting inclusive development.”
The success of Mohali’s system is paving the way for expansion across Punjab, laying the foundation for safer, smarter, and more prosperous cities.
