Chandigarh, July 9: The southwest monsoon has successfully advanced across the remaining pockets of northwest India to cover the entirety of Punjab and Haryana, ending a prolonged stalled phase over the region. Weather officials confirmed that while the final advancement brings relief to the agrarian belt, the two states are experiencing contrasting precipitation trajectories as the season intensifies.

“Continuous rains are expected to persist across many parts of the region through July 14,” the India Meteorological Department declared in its latest seasonal weather assessment. Senior meteorologists affirmed that while recent atmospheric systems catalyzed the monsoon’s final push into outlying border districts, the overall seasonal volume remains unevenly distributed.

Data released by the weather office indicates that Haryana’s recent moisture profile has transitioned into favorable territory, recording significant short-term gains over its historical averages. In sharp contrast, Punjab’s current accumulation figures remain noticeably below the long period average despite scattered light downpours across several northern tracking zones.

“The monsoon graph in Haryana has officially turned green,” an official department communication stated regarding the state’s twenty-three percent surplus during the opening week of July. Representatives maintained that north-central pockets and specific districts like Faridabad and Gurugram have absorbed the highest volume, even as localized areas like Sirsa continue to manage deep deficits.
