Mansa, September 26: The hearing of the Sidhu Moosewala murder case in Mansa court on Friday was adjourned to October 17 after the slain singer’s father, Balkaur Singh, could not appear due to health concerns. Balkaur Singh, who was scheduled to testify in court, submitted an application seeking exemption from personal appearance, prompting the postponement of key proceedings.
During the session, police employee Manpreet Singh recorded his testimony, while accused Deepak Mundi was produced in court. Advocate Satinder Pal Singh Mittal, counsel for the case, said the testimony of Manpreet Singh was “crucial to the ongoing investigation” into the circumstances surrounding Moosewala’s killing.
The court had earlier directed that the shooters involved in Moosewala’s murder be produced, but they were not presented due to the absence of Balkaur Singh. Other accused were brought before the court through video conferencing.
Sidhu Moosewala, a popular Punjabi singer, was shot dead in May 2022, triggering widespread attention and public outrage. Since then, the investigation has seen multiple arrests, including those of alleged shooters and conspirators. The court proceedings have included detailed testimonies from police officers, witnesses, and other officials involved in the investigation.
The next hearing, now scheduled for October 17, is expected to include the testimony of Balkaur Singh and further proceedings against the accused.
