Mansa, Feb 11: The parents of the late singer Shubhdeep Singh, famously known as Sidhu Moosewala, held a sit-on-floor protest at the Mansa SSP office on Wednesday. Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur are seeking the registration of an FIR regarding an alleged financial fraud involving two companies owned by their son, claiming that nearly USD 3.7 million in digital earnings remains unpaid.
The protest took place during a visit by DIG Bathinda Range Harjeet Singh. The couple sat on the floor for 45 minutes to raise the lack of progress on a complaint previously filed with the DGP. According to sources, the dispute involves total digital platform earnings of approximately USD 11.5 million generated since the singer’s death, of which a significant portion is allegedly being withheld by a former manager and two others.
“We filed a formal complaint against my manager and two others for financial fraud related to our two companies,” Balkaur Singh said. He mentioned that despite an investigation by an SP-level officer, the case has not moved forward at the SSP office. He noted that the family has provided all necessary documentation and challenged the authorities to book them if the complaint was found to be false.
Balkaur Singh further alleged that the local police were being influenced by financial interests. “Mansa police were acting at the behest of money. We don’t have money to give to the police,” he said. He mentioned that as elderly parents relying on medication, the constant visits to police stations have been physically and emotionally taxing.
Charan Kaur voiced her extreme distress during the demonstration, stating that the family continues to feel unsafe. “If someone kills us, the Mansa police will be responsible,” she said. Following a brief meeting with the DIG and SSP, the parents briefly resumed their sit-in before leaving the premises in silence.
