Chandigarh/Ludhiana, April 8 — Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian will lay the foundation stone for two major road infrastructure projects in Ludhiana on Wednesday, including a 200-foot-wide road from Malerkotla Road to Sidhwan Canal Lohara bridge, valued at Rs 31.14 crore.
The upcoming 1.7 km bituminous road—part of Missing Link-2 (Part-C)—aims to improve traffic movement and connectivity between key areas. “This project will not only strengthen local infrastructure but also boost economic activity in the region,” Mundian said.
The project includes civil works, street lighting, horticulture, and public health infrastructure. It is expected to be completed within a year and will carry a five-year maintenance clause under the contract terms.
In addition, Mundian will lay the foundation stone for special repair work on the 3.85 km link road connecting GT Road to Khasi Kalan via Tajpur and Dhanansu. The Rs 3.31 crore upgrade addresses a longstanding demand from residents and commuters.
“This is part of the Mann government’s ongoing effort to build world-class road infrastructure across Punjab,” the minister noted.
Both developments fall in line with the state government’s broader vision of turning Ludhiana into a model city with seamless connectivity and modern amenities.
