Shimla, March 7 — The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned ₹109.3 crore for 10 rural road projects in six districts of Himachal Pradesh under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) XXX.
The approval was granted during the 141st meeting of NABARD’s Project Internal Approval Committee.
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said these projects will enhance rural connectivity and improve transportation, benefiting thousands across the state. “The government has been actively representing Himachal’s development needs at the central level, leading to successful grants for various projects,” he mentioned.
Key roads approved for upgrades include Junalla-Karloti-Chhat-Berthin, Tikkar Manoh via Jakhyol-Ramehra-Sulkhan-Dhirwin, and Rohru-Chirgaon-Dodrakawar. New link roads connecting Pirsaluhi (Kangra) to Kitpal (Hamirpur), Puyad to Tikkari via Dharli, and Thathar Tripal to Mehwa Panchayat have also been sanctioned. Additionally, the project covers roads from Saheed Tej Singh Smarak Jatta-Ra-Nallah to Kukrigalu via Harijan Basti Saloun, Katloun, and Chhamyar.
A 35-meter span bridge linking Nehwat, Nayaser, Ghaini, and Devidhar is among the major developments. Another approved project includes road construction with culverts and metalling from Kanshiwala to Biroja Factory via Jable Ka Bag, Kanol Lag, and Batuni Morch.
These projects are expected to boost the rural economy by providing better access to remote areas, ensuring smoother transportation of agricultural produce, daily essentials, and public transport.
Singh directed PWD officials to begin work within a month after completing necessary formalities. “Strict quality standards must be maintained, and projects should be completed on time,” he instructed.
