NEW DELHI, Dec. 6 — Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu on Friday said the government expects IndiGo’s disrupted flight operations to return to normal within three days, after hundreds of cancellations and delays over the past four days.
Naidu said the ministry has taken “urgent and proactive steps” to stabilise schedules, including placing the new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in abeyance with immediate effect.
“Without compromising air safety, this decision has been taken solely in the interest of passengers — especially senior citizens, students, patients and others who rely on timely air travel,” Naidu said in a statement.
He said the move was necessary after widespread disruptions affected travellers across multiple airports. “The operational measures have been initiated to ensure that normal airline services are restored at the earliest,” he said.
The minister said the government expects schedules to begin stabilising by Saturday. “We anticipate that complete restoration of services will be achieved within the next three days,” Naidu said.
He added that a high-level inquiry has been ordered to determine the reasons behind the disruptions and fix accountability. The civil aviation ministry, he said, is coordinating with all stakeholders to ensure immediate relief for passengers.
