Chandigarh, October 18 — Global food and beverage majors Nestle India, PepsiCo India, and Coca-Cola India have collectively invested over ₹1,000 crore in Punjab, reaffirming confidence in the state’s pro-industry policies under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Officials said the investments have generated thousands of jobs and strengthened Punjab’s position as a key food processing hub.

Since 2022, the state has attracted investment proposals worth ₹1.23 lakh crore, with the food processing sector leading the inflow, according to official data. “The Mann government attributes this growth to transparent governance, simplified procedures, and timely policy clearances aimed at boosting ease of doing business.”

Nestle India has announced a ₹583-crore expansion of its Moga facility, transforming the district into a modern food processing centre. The upgraded plant, approved through Invest Punjab, will feature advanced automation and provide hundreds of direct and indirect jobs. Officials said that 90% of the milk used at the plant will be sourced from Punjab’s local farmers and cooperatives, stabilising rural incomes.

Chief Minister Mann termed the project a “partnership model of farmers and industry.” Nestle plans to produce new variants of Maggi, Nescafé, and dairy products at the site, further expanding Punjab’s role in the national food market.

Coca-Cola India has set up a ₹275-crore beverage plant in Ludhiana, adopting “green growth” technologies such as water recycling, solar power, and waste management. The government facilitated the project with electricity and tax incentives, which officials said helped speed up approvals. The plant has created several hundred jobs and bolstered Ludhiana’s manufacturing ecosystem.

PepsiCo India has invested ₹30 crore to expand its food processing facility in Sangrur, which sources potatoes from local farmers under contract farming. The company is also training farmers in sustainable agriculture and water conservation. Government incentives supported eco-friendly packaging and energy-efficient practices.

Officials said Punjab’s industrial policy now mandates Zero Liquid Discharge, Rainwater Harvesting, and Waste Recycling for all new projects — integrating environmental safeguards with industrial expansion.

Since 2022, investment proposals worth ₹70,000 crore have led to the creation of over 4.5 lakh jobs, while foreign direct investment touched ₹8,000 crore in 2025.

Chief Minister Mann said Punjab is now “a land of opportunities where every investment benefits every section of society.”

Industry experts said the entry of global companies signals Punjab’s transition from an agriculture-dependent economy to a diversified industrial state.

“Punjab is no longer just an agricultural state — it’s fast emerging as an industrial powerhouse,” an Invest Punjab official said.
