Mohali, 3 March — Mohali’s commercial landscape is set for a major expansion as the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) moves forward with a ₹68-crore project to develop a shopping street along PR-11 Road in Sectors 85, 86, 88, and 89.
The project includes 289 showrooms and shops, along with hotel and petrol pump sites in Sectors 85 and 88. A five-star hotel is also planned for Sector 88. “These commercial spaces will be similar in size to those on Chandigarh’s Madhya Marg and will help decongest Airport Road,” a senior GMADA officer said.
Tenders have been invited for civil, public health, and electrical works, with the development set to be completed by December-end. GMADA has also allocated 28 acres for a medical college in Sector 81, situated on the same PR-11 stretch.
Once construction is finished, the authority will hold an e-auction for the sale of showrooms and shops, including 57 units in Sector 85, 73 in Sector 86, 90 in Sector 88, and 69 in Sector 89.
