Zirakpur, March 26: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is scheduled to officially award the contracts for two major greenfield highway projects on Thursday, totaling an investment of ₹3,342 crore. The initiative aims to resolve the persistent traffic bottlenecks in Zirakpur by constructing a 19.2-km bypass connecting Zirakpur and Panchkula, along with a 10.3-km spur linking the new route to the Ambala-Chandigarh Expressway.

Senior NHAI officials confirmed that the letters of award are likely to be issued to the lowest eligible bidders within the day. One official stated that work on the ground will begin shortly after the award. The projects constitute a critical southeastern section of the 244-km Tricity Ring Road and were tendered under the hybrid annuity mode.

Financial evaluations revealed that RKCPL Limited emerged as the lowest bidder for the main bypass at ₹1,380 crore. For the connecting spur, Ceigall Infra Projects Private Limited submitted the most competitive bid at ₹603 crore. Authorities noted that a total of 19 bids were received across both packages, indicating strong interest from major infrastructure firms. The completion of these roads is expected to provide a seamless transit corridor for commuters traveling between Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.
