MOHALI, 24 June — Police arrested a Nigerian national with 540 grams of cocaine during a raid at Golden Estate in Sector 115, seizing drug paraphernalia and suspected proceeds from drug sales.
The suspect, identified as Eczoa, was found in possession of ₹10,000 in cash believed to be drug money, along with eight large and ten small envelopes, a digital fork, a steel spoon, a roll of tape, and rubber bands of various colours, all recovered from his bag during the search.
Police officials said preliminary interrogation revealed that the accused had sourced the cocaine from New Delhi. “The quantity seized indicates intent to supply. We’re investigating the broader network,” a senior officer said.
Authorities also confirmed that the accused has overstayed his visa, adding a violation of immigration norms to the list of charges. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and legal proceedings are underway.
Further investigation is on to trace the supply chain and identify any local links in the drug network.
