Major leadership transition expected in Bihar government

Patna, March 5: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections on Thursday, signaling a significant shift in the state’s political landscape. The Janata Dal-United chief submitted his documents at the office of Assembly Secretary Khyati Singh in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The move marks the end of an era for the state’s longest-serving Chief Minister, who expressed a personal desire to complete his parliamentary journey by serving in the upper house. Mr. Kumar affirmed that the transition would lead to a new government structure under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) banner.

“From the very beginning of my parliamentary journey, there has been a desire in my heart to become a member of both Houses of the Bihar Legislature as well as both Houses of Parliament,” Mr. Kumar stated.

Following the nomination, the veteran leader declared that he would provide full cooperation and guidance to the incoming administration. Sources indicate that BJP leaders Nityanand Rai and Samrat Choudhary have emerged as the frontrunners for the Chief Minister’s post, while Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant, is expected to take over as Deputy Chief Minister.

“The new government that will be formed will have my full cooperation and guidance,” Mr. Kumar asserted.

Reflecting on his tenure, he noted that the trust of the people allowed Bihar to reach new dimensions of development. He maintained that his resolve to work toward a developed Bihar remains steadfast despite his move to the Parliament.
