New Delhi, August 6: More than 10,000 Indian nationals working abroad received financial and consular support under the Indian Community Welfare Fund during 2025, involving an expenditure of ₹21.88 crore.
In a written response to a query in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh affirmed that the Union Government maintains robust protection frameworks for Indian emigrants through institutional mechanisms and overseas support centers.
“Safety, security, and welfare of Indian nationals working overseas remain of the highest priority,” stated Kirti Vardhan Singh, adding that bilateral mobility and labour agreements with 25 countries further help protect migrant workers’ rights.
The ministry detailed that digital platforms like MADAD and eMigrate work alongside 24/7 helplines and Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendras across major overseas hubs to address grievances. Cumulative data submitted in Parliament shows that the ICWF has supported over 3.69 lakh distressed citizens with disbursements exceeding ₹774 crore since its establishment.
