Pakistan Protests India’s Post-Match Gesture at ACC

Dubai, Sept 15: Pakistan has filed a complaint with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) against the Indian team, alleging that players walked off without observing the customary handshake after their Asia Cup encounter in Dubai.

India registered a comprehensive victory over Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav sealed the match with a six and, along with his batting partner Shivam Dube, headed straight towards the dugout instead of exchanging handshakes with the Pakistani side, officials said.

The gesture drew an official protest from Pakistan, which described the move as unsportsmanlike. Team captain Salman Agha later refused to attend the post-match ceremony in what was seen as a mark of dissent.

The incident has added fresh tension to an already high-voltage rivalry. Handshakes at the end of fixtures are considered a long-standing tradition in international cricket, aimed at reinforcing sportsmanship despite results.

Officials of the ACC are expected to review Pakistan’s complaint in the coming days. Neither the Indian cricket board nor tournament organizers have issued a statement yet.
