Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Again in Pargwal Sector

Jammu, April 30 — The Pakistan Army opened fire across the International Border in the Pargwal sector of Jammu and Kashmir during the intervening night of April 29 and 30, marking a fresh escalation just a day after ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) continued for the sixth consecutive day.

Indian Army personnel responded to the unprovoked small arms firing from Pakistani forces, which also targeted Indian positions in the Baramulla and Kupwara districts along the LoC, according to an Army official.

The official confirmed that Indian troops responded in a “measured and appropriate manner” and added that there were no immediate reports of injury or damage on the Indian side.

These latest incidents come in the wake of one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent years in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow on April 22, where 26 people were killed.

The attack triggered a series of cross-border violations and heightened military tension.

In response to the escalating hostilities, India has taken several diplomatic and security measures, including the suspension of the 1960 Indus Water Treaty, cancellation of all visas issued to Pakistani nationals from April 27, and the immediate closure of the Attari land transit point.
