Pargat Singh Says Punjab ‘Losing Grip on Law and Order’

JALANDHAR, Dec. 11 — Former Punjab education minister and Congress MLA Pargat Singh on Wednesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of losing control over law and order, alleging that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is focused on “domestic and foreign visits” while crime and fear rise across the state.

“The chief minister should postpone his foreign tours and address the deteriorating situation in Punjab,” Singh said during a visit to the Jalandhar Cantonment constituency. “People are living in fear, and they deserve immediate relief.”

Singh said the administration’s approach has weakened democratic processes ahead of the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections. “The Aam Aadmi Party is using every trick to kill democracy,” he said. “Instead of ensuring fair and transparent elections, the model code of conduct is being violated openly.”

The Congress leader claimed that the government had turned Punjab into a “police state” and warned that public anger was growing. “The end of this government’s rule has begun,” Singh said. “Punjabis have seen the betrayal of promises and will soon show them the door.”
