RAJGIR, April 11— Under the citizen-centric “Passport at Your Doorstep” initiative, the Regional Passport Office (RPO) Patna held a specialized Passport Seva Mobile Van Camp at Nalanda University on April 11, 2026. The outreach program successfully processed applications for 55 beneficiaries, including students, faculty, and administrative staff.
The event was inaugurated by Ambassador Sibi George, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, alongside Nalanda University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi. The mobile facility allowed applicants to complete the entire cycle—from document verification to biometric enrollment—without leaving the campus grounds.
“The initiative aimed to provide convenient access to passport-related services and streamline the application process within the campus itself,” RPO Patna officials stated in a press release. The camp was designed to minimize disruption to the rigorous academic schedules of the university’s scholars and international academic fraternity.
The historical and academic prestige of Nalanda University, a modern revival of the ancient Nalanda Mahavihara, served as the backdrop for this service expansion. Officials noted that the camp particularly benefitted students looking to engage in global career opportunities and international research collaborations.
This camp is part of a broader effort by the Ministry of External Affairs to enhance service delivery across the state. RPO Patna has now processed more than 2,200 applications through 17 similar mobile camps across various Bihar districts over the last two years.
Authorities maintained that such efforts are a step toward making essential services more approachable and inclusive. The successful execution of the Rajgir camp was attributed to a cohesive partnership between Nalanda University and the Ministry, reflecting a proactive approach to modern governance.
