Phagwara, Dec 4: A 30-year-old man was shot dead at point-blank range after an argument with three friends near Phagwara’s Hadiabad locality late Wednesday, police said. The victim, Avinash Kumar, who earned his living playing the dhol, was killed around 10.30pm.
Superintendent of police Madhvi Sharma said the dispute turned violent when one of the friends, Jaspreet Singh, pulled out an illegal weapon. “He fired from close range and the bullet pierced through his neck,” she directly said. The accused then fled in a car towards Nakodar.
Avinash’s brother, Karan, took him to the local civil hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Sharma said police teams are tracing the suspects’ movement using digital and technical inputs. “All three have been identified and they will be arrested soon,” she noted.
