Udhampur, April 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Monday following the fatal bus accident in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in significant loss of life. The Prime Minister announced financial relief for the victims and their families from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
Under the approved ex-gratia, the next of kin for each individual who died in the tragedy will receive ₹2 lakh. Additionally, the Prime Minister stated that ₹50,000 would be provided to each of the injured passengers to assist with their recovery and medical expenses.
The Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement via X, noting that he was deeply pained by the news of the incident. He affirmed his sympathies for those mourning the loss of relatives and declared that he is praying for the quick recovery of those currently hospitalized.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their near and dear ones,” the Prime Minister stated. He maintained that the government is focused on ensuring the victims receive the necessary support during this difficult period.
