NEW DELHI, May 9 – In his first public comments since India launched Operation Sindoor against terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday took to social media to deliver messages rooted in peace, culture, and national pride.

Extending greetings to the head of the Catholic Church, Modi wrote, “I convey sincere felicitations and best wishes from the people of India to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. His leadership of the Catholic Church comes at a moment of profound significance in advancing the ideals of peace, harmony, solidarity and service.”

While India continues to assess threats from Pakistan following the precision military strikes on May 7, the Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s commitment to dialogue and mutual understanding.

“India remains committed to continued dialogue and engagement with the Holy Seer to further our shared values,” he added.

The Prime Minister also marked the birth anniversaries of two iconic Indian figures—Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and Maharana Pratap—with heartfelt tributes.

Remembering Tagore, Modi said, “Gurudev is fondly remembered for shaping India’s literary and cultural soul.

His works focused on humanism and at the same time ignited the spirit of nationalism among the people. His efforts towards education and learning, seen in how he nurtured Santiniketan, are also very inspiring.”

In another post, Modi paid homage to Maharana Pratap, hailing his unyielding resistance and valor.

“The courage and bravery he displayed to protect the self-respect of the motherland remains a guiding light for our heroes and heroines even today. His valiant life dedicated to Mother India will always inspire the countrymen,” he stated.

These remarks come at a time when the nation’s security forces remain on high alert, following India’s calculated military response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack earlier this week.

Though the Prime Minister did not directly reference the operation in his statements, the themes of resilience, heritage, and moral conviction underscored his broader messaging.
