New Delhi, May 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday chaired a key meeting of NDA chief ministers and deputy chief ministers, where Operation Sindoor, caste census, and governance strategies topped the agenda.
The meeting saw participation from 20 chief ministers and 18 deputy CMs of BJP-led NDA-ruled states. Senior leaders including Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu, and Maharashtra deputy CMs Shrikant Shinde and Ajit Pawar were in attendance.
The gathering passed a resolution lauding the valour of Indian armed forces and Prime Minister Modi’s leadership during Operation Sindoor, which was launched in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
“The country stands united in pride for the bravery of its forces and the firm leadership that guided the mission,” the resolution noted.
The caste census — a politically sensitive issue ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections — featured prominently. The NDA is positioning the caste enumeration move as a counter to the Congress-led Opposition’s narrative.
The meeting also reviewed best governance practices across states and discussed preparations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency as part of a broader ideological campaign.
Leaders discussed plans for the first anniversary of the Modi government’s third term and the upcoming observance of 10 years of International Yoga Day, aiming for large-scale public engagement.
With elections approaching in several states, the meeting reflected an effort to consolidate NDA strategy, showcase governance achievements, and align state-level efforts with central priorities.
