NEW DELHI, AUGUST 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, scheduled from August 31 to September 1. The strategic discussions will form part of a two-nation diplomatic tour that begins with a state visit to Uzbekistan from August 29 to 30 at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The high-level meeting between India and Russia aims to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations, with special emphasis on energy security, economic cooperation, and trade supply chains. Ministry of External Affairs Secretary (West) Sibi George confirmed that the interaction will allow both nations to evaluate key areas of mutual interest and explore new avenues for economic partnerships.
The bilateral exchange follows preliminary discussions held during recent diplomatic engagements between both countries.
“A meeting is scheduled between the leaders of India and Russia on the sidelines of the summit. Both sides are expected to review the entire gamut of the bilateral relationship during the meeting between the leaders at the sidelines of the SCO in Bishkek,” stated MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George.
Following his bilateral engagements in Tashkent, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Bishkek for the 26th SCO Summit. Marking the 25th anniversary of the regional grouping, the leader’s address will focus on advancing regional peace, trade connectivity, and security across Eurasia under the overarching theme of sustainable development.
