New Delhi, July 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the government reacted promptly as soon as the NEET leakage was reported, characterizing the breach as a grave sin. Addressing a meeting of the NDA Parliamentary Party, the Prime Minister stated that the accused had already been apprehended, with thirteen of them presently under arrest. He asserted that those responsible must face the most stringent punishment so that such violations are strictly deterred in the future.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju affirmed that the swift arrest and jailed status of the accused reflect the government’s resolve to uphold the integrity of public examinations. To safeguard the interests of candidates, authorities conducted a re-examination, which was completed with results declared on schedule. Rijiju maintained that these urgent steps demonstrate the determination of the government to prevent recurrences and rebuild confidence in the examination process.
The paper leak issue sparked widespread concern after students and coaching centers flagged similarities between a leaked handwritten question bank and the actual paper, particularly in Rajasthan. In response to security concerns, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan ordered a re-examination on June 21 following the cancellation of the initial test. Subsequently, the National Testing Agency confirmed that over eleven lakh candidates qualified for medical and allied courses, while addressing and clarifying subsequent queries regarding the evaluation process to reassure all aspirants.
