Hyderabad, Dec 18: Police have registered a suo motu case against the organisers of a film song-release event at a Hyderabad mall after actor Nidhhi Agerwal was allegedly mobbed and pushed by fans while trying to leave the venue, officials said Thursday.

The case was registered at the KPHB police station after videos of the incident at Lulu Mall, Kukatpally, surfaced on social media, showing the actor struggling to move through a tightly packed crowd.

“We have taken cognisance of the incident based on video evidence circulating online,” a KPHB police official said. “The matter is under investigation, and action will be taken depending on findings related to safety and crowd management.”

The incident occurred Wednesday during the launch of the song “Sahana Sahana” from Agerwal’s upcoming film The Raja Saab. Footage from the event shows fans surrounding the actor as she attempted to reach her vehicle, despite the presence of security personnel.

Police said they are examining whether adequate preventive measures were put in place by the organisers to manage the gathering. Officials added that responsibility would be fixed after reviewing the event permissions and security arrangements.

No injuries were reported.
