Ferozepur, Jan 15: A major drug trafficking attempt was foiled in Ferozepur as police recovered over 4 kilograms of heroin believed to have originated from Pakistan. The operation resulted in the arrest of two men who were allegedly transporting the narcotics to the Mamdot area.

The recovery of 4.013 kilograms of heroin followed a swift tactical response by local police teams. Officials mentioned that the investigation is now focused on tracing the broader logistics of the network, as the accused have shown signs of past involvement in similar illegal trades.

DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav noted the force’s ongoing dedication to removing drugs from the state and ensuring public safety through such targeted busts.

Officers mentioned that the interrogation of the suspects is expected to provide deeper access to the smuggling syndicate. The investigation remains ongoing as police look to shut down the conduits used for cross-border drug flow.

Ferozepur Police dismantled a significant narcotics smuggling operation on Thursday, arresting two individuals found in possession of 4.013 kilograms of heroin. The seizure occurred after law enforcement received specific intelligence regarding a large shipment of drugs being moved toward the Mamdot sector.

Acting on the tip-off, officers intercepted the suspects and discovered the contraband during a search of their belongings. Preliminary findings indicated that the heroin had been smuggled into India from across the border in Pakistan.

“Punjab Police is fully committed to completely eradicate the drug smuggling network and make Punjab drug-free and safe,” DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav said in a statement following the operation.

Investigators noted that the arrested men appear to have established links to previous smuggling activities. Police are currently conducting extensive interrogations to identify additional members of the network and uncover the specific routes used to transport the narcotics.
