PATRAN, Sept. 27 — Priyanshi, a law graduate from Patran in Patiala district, has been appointed as a civil judge (junior division) in Himachal Pradesh, marking a historic achievement for her hometown.

The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) declared the final results of the state’s Judicial Service examination on Sept. 26, announcing the selection of 19 candidates. Among them was Priyanshi, whose success has become a source of pride for her family and the wider Patran region.

“This is a moment of immense happiness for us,” said her father, businessman Sarjeevan Kumar. “She has worked hard since childhood, and today she has brought honor not just to our family but also to our community.”

Born in Retgarh village and now residing in Suncity Colony, Patran, Priyanshi’s educational journey reflects consistent excellence. She scored a perfect 10 CGPA in her Class 10 exams from D.A.V. Public School, Samana, and later secured 95.4% in Class 12 (Commerce) from Buddha Dal Public School, Samana. Continuing her academic distinction, she graduated in 2024 with a law degree from the Army Institute of Law, Mohali, where she obtained 82.02% marks.

What makes her selection remarkable is that it came directly after completing her LLB. “Her direct entry into the judicial services shows her commitment and capability,” noted a family member.

The news has resonated widely in Patran, where she is also known as the niece-in-law of senior Congress leader Pawan Kumar Patwari. Locals described her appointment as a moment of collective pride.

Speaking about her future goals, Priyanshi said she wishes to “serve justice effectively and strengthen the system to uphold truth in society.”

Her achievement, community members said, will inspire young students in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to pursue excellence. “She has shown that with dedication, even the toughest milestones can be crossed,” said a neighbor.
