Srinagar, November 06, 2024— In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Anantnag Police have attached property worth 1.2 crores belonging to a known drug trafficker under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to a police statement, Mohammad Ashraf Dar, son of Jalal-Ud-Din from Tulkhan Bijbehara, has a record of drug trafficking offenses involving Codeine Phosphate, Charas, and Spasmo Proxyvan Plus. His most recent arrest on April 4, 2021, saw the seizure of 70 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, 34.7 kg of Charas powder, and 4,320 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvan Plus.

Further investigation revealed that Dar’s two sons, Inayat Ah Dar and Sahil Ah Dar, were also detained on drug-related charges in 2024. Inayat Ah Dar was found with 9 bottles of Codeine Phosphate in Case FIR No. 13/2024, while Sahil Ah Dar had 12 bottles in Case FIR No. 36/2024.

Though Dar claimed his income came from agriculture, authorities discovered his three-storey house in Tulkhan, valued at around 1.2 crores, was financed through proceeds from his drug trade. Acting under Section 68(1) of the NDPS Act, Anantnag Police, via Police Station Bijbehara, attached the property to prevent its sale or transfer.

This action underscores Anantnag Police’s commitment to targeting the financial networks supporting the drug trade and serves as a firm warning that proceeds from narcotics will not go unchecked. Anantnag Police remain vigilant in their mission to dismantle the narcotics network through ongoing, strategic measures, the statement added.
