Chandigarh, March 20, 2025: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Junior Engineer (JE) Jarnail Singh for allegedly accepting a ₹10,000 bribe in Faridkot district.
A VB spokesperson said the engineer, posted at PSPCL’s Kotkapura sub-division office, was caught red-handed while taking the bribe. The arrest followed a complaint filed by a resident of Kothe Chahal Singh village in Faridkot.
“The complainant alleged that the JE had demanded ₹20,000 to shift his tubewell connection and install a domestic power meter at his acquaintance’s residence,” the spokesperson said. “Upon request, the engineer agreed to accept the bribe in two instalments.”
After verifying the complaint, a vigilance team from the Ferozepur range laid a trap. “The accused was caught red-handed while accepting ₹10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses,” the spokesperson added.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the JE at the VB Police Station, Ferozepur Range. He will be produced in court tomorrow, while further investigation is underway, the spokesperson said.
