Chandigarh, Oct 1: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited announced a Voluntary Disclosure Scheme aimed at assisting agricultural power tubewell consumers in regularising unauthorised additional load. The initiative remains effective for 45 days starting October 1 and applies to agricultural tubewell connections established up to May 29. The scheme is designed to help determine the actual electricity load utilized across the state’s farming sector.

Under the provisions of the scheme, service connection charges for regularising additional load stand reduced to Rs 2,500 per horsepower, down from the earlier standard of Rs 6,572 per horsepower. Security fees have also been adjusted to Rs 200 per horsepower from the previous Rs 400 per horsepower. Agricultural consumers have the option to either remove any unauthorised load or regularise their existing setups by submitting the prescribed declaration form alongside the designated fees.

Statewide agricultural operations rely heavily on more than 13.94 lakh tubewells during the paddy season. High concentration regions include Ludhiana with 1.17 lakh tubewells, followed by Gurdaspur, Amritsar, and Sangrur.

Field officials and enforcement teams will inspect agricultural connections to verify connected loads and assist farmers with accurate assessments. During the 45-day period, authorities affirmed that no penalties or load surcharges will be imposed on unauthorised load identified during inspections or voluntarily declared by consumers.
