Puncham Families Press GMADA on Property Transfers

Mohali, 15 December 2024: Families of deceased residents in Puncham Cooperative Society, Sector 68, have appealed to GMADA authorities for intervention to expedite pending property transfer cases.

Five families are struggling to secure ownership of flats after a prolonged battle to acquire rights, even as necessary formalities—including witness statements, public notices, and clearances—have been completed, according to area councillor Vineet Malik.

“GMADA’s refusal to process these transfers lacks any written explanation or legal grounds,” Malik said, citing the financial and emotional strain on affected widows and dependents.

Last November, GMADA granted ownership rights to 448 residents after a 17-year delay, but five of these owners had passed away before receiving the rights. The families claim delays have left them unable to claim the properties.

Repeated attempts to contact GMADA Chief Administrator Moneesh Kumar went unanswered.
