Chandigarh, October 15, 2025: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and Argentina’s Centro Agrotechnico Regional signed new partnership to promote joint research, modern technology exchange, and sustainable farming practices that could help double farmers’ income and make the state a global leader in agriculture.

During their visit, Argentine scientists studied Punjab’s soil, climate and cropping patterns, and held discussions with local farmers and PAU experts on water conservation, soil health, and yield improvement.

Both sides agreed to launch joint projects in the coming months, sharing expertise on innovative farming techniques and crop diversification.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to farmer welfare.

“Punjab’s farmers are the backbone of India’s food security. Through this partnership, we want them to have access to the best global technologies and fair value for their hard work,” he said.

In recent years, Punjab has introduced several farmer-friendly reforms — from subsidies for drip irrigation and solar pumps to smart farming apps and new food processing parks — which have boosted production and employment. The Mann government’s timely relief to flood-affected farmers this year also underscored its focus on rural resilience.

With the Argentina collaboration, Punjab aims to strengthen its research ecosystem, promote organic and climate-resilient farming, and position itself as a global model for sustainable agriculture.
