Chandigarh, December 29, 2024: The Punjab government is set to convene the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha in the first week of January, focusing on key issues such as agricultural marketing and law and order.

One major agenda item is the Centre’s draft for a new national agricultural marketing policy, which the Punjab government has circulated for feedback. The proposal has drawn sharp criticism from farmers, commission agents, and sheller owners, alongside opposition parties, who have collectively voiced their dissent. Multiple meetings have been held over the issue.

Meanwhile, the opposition Congress plans to question the government’s handling of law and order, particularly following recent grenade attacks on police stations in the state. The attacks have raised serious concerns about security, fueling criticism from the opposition.

Ahead of the session, a cabinet meeting is expected in the coming days to finalize significant proposals for approval.
