Chandigarh/Jaipur, September 28: Punjab has been conferred the National Data Technology Award 2025 for its innovative use of data analytics in governance, marking a milestone in the state’s digital transformation.

The award, presented at the Indian Express Technology Summit in Jaipur, Rajasthan, was received by Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Good Governance and Information Technology, D.K. Tiwari. The recognition places Punjab among the leading states in adopting data-driven governance.

“This is a moment of pride for the entire state,” said Punjab’s Good Governance and IT Minister Aman Arora. “The award is proof of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s visionary leadership in ensuring transparent, efficient, and accountable governance. Data analytics is proving to be a game-changer in modern administration.”

Officials noted that the honor validates the Mann government’s focus on citizen-centric reforms. By applying data tools, the administration has improved public service delivery, reduced bureaucratic hurdles, and enabled citizens to access government services from their homes.

“Decisions are now based on statistics, not guesswork. We know which village requires doctors, which city needs roads, and which farmer needs support,” an official statement said.

The award was won in the Data Analytics category, reflecting Punjab’s effective use of technology to strengthen administrative processes. According to the government, the model has introduced greater transparency by allowing citizens to monitor how public funds are spent. “This award is not merely a recognition, it is an inspiration,” Arora added. “It reaffirms Punjab’s commitment to digital good governance.”

Chief Minister Mann’s administration has framed the achievement as part of its broader vision of a “Rangla Punjab”—a state known not just for agriculture and valor, but also for digital innovation.

“The soil of Punjab has always achieved wonders. Now, the golden dream of a Digital Punjab is taking shape,” the statement said.

Officials described the honor as both a recognition of progress and a call to continue strengthening technology-based initiatives for citizen welfare and prosperity. They noted that Punjab’s digital reforms aim to bring honesty, speed, and transparency to governance.

The national award, state leaders said, confirms that Punjab is emerging as a model for digital transformation in India.

“This victory belongs to every citizen who believes in change and good governance,” the government noted.
