Chandigarh, March 17: The Punjab government has allocated ₹2,000 crore to the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna in its 2026-27 budget, a move intended to provide universal healthcare access to nearly 3 crore residents. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the funding ensures families can receive cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh at over 820 empanelled government and private hospitals.

The initiative currently covers 65 lakh families, offering more than 2,300 treatment packages for critical conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and kidney ailments. The government has already issued over 9 lakh Sehat Cards, which act as a gateway for beneficiaries to receive treatment without the burden of upfront costs.

“In moments of illness, families should not have to think about money before seeking treatment,” Chief Minister Mann asserted. He maintained that the goal is to provide every household in the state with the confidence that quality care is available when needed most.

To support this infrastructure, the administration has appointed over 1,500 doctors in recent years, including 600 specialists. Officials affirmed that door-to-door campaigns are currently underway to assist residents with enrolment at Seva Kendras and Common Service Centres.
