JAMMU, Dec 29 — A Punjab Roadways bus heading to Jammu collided with a crane parked on the Jammu Ring Road on Sunday, injuring about 50 passengers, police said. Three to four of the injured were reported in serious condition.

“The bus lost control while approaching the construction site and crashed head-on into the crane,” a senior police officer at the scene told reporters. “The front of the bus was badly damaged, and immediate medical attention was provided to all injured passengers.”

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, with the most critical referred to GMC Jammu for advanced treatment. “Our teams are ensuring the patients receive the best care possible,” a hospital spokesperson said.

Authorities said the crane was part of ongoing streetlight installation work along the Ring Road. Police and emergency services worked to remove the bus and crane, restoring traffic after several hours.

Officials appealed to motorists to follow speed limits and exercise caution in construction zones. An investigation has been launched to verify if the crane had the necessary safety indicators.
