Punjab Cabinet Approves Free Pilgrimage Scheme for Senior Citizens

Chandigarh, April 3 — The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has approved the resumption of the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, offering free religious trips to devotees above 50 years of age.

The government will cover all expenses, with a budget allocation of ₹100 crore, according to reports.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, along with Cabinet Ministers Barinder Goyal and Hardeep Singh Mundian, announced the decision after the cabinet meeting.

Registration for the scheme will begin at the end of April, and the first pilgrimage is set to commence in May, he said.

Pilgrimage sites, including Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, and Durgiana Temple, will be finalized soon, he added.

The journeys will be conducted via both bus and train.
